iFIX Fundamentals Training Course (Level 1 )
Overview
This course is designed to familiarize students with iFIX. It is designed for customers who are new to GE Fanuc software. It teaches basic SCADA and HMI topics like Process Database blocks, graphic design, data archiving, reporting, alarm strategies.
Participants
This course is designed for process, automation, or instrumentation engineers and system integrators who will be developing, configuring, and using applications on an iFIX system.
Prerequisites
Participants should have a working knowledge of Windows XP operating systems.
Upon completion of this Course, the student will be able to: |

- Understand architecture communication between iFIX SCADA Servers and iFIX iClient nodes.
- Configure iFIX nodes using the System Configuration Utility.
- Create and modify standard Process Database tags.
- Create graphic screens (pictures) using a wide variety of object types and animations.
- Design and build a picture navigation strategy.
- Configure alarming and create screens to monitor and acknowledge alarms.
- Use trending to monitor both real-time and historical data.
- Design and build a system wide security strategy.
- Use a variety of iFIX Utilities and Operating System administrative options to troubleshoot project or system process faults.
- Using FIX Desktop with an iFIX SCADA node

iFIX Advanced Training Course (Level 2)
Overview
The Proficy HMI/SCADA - Advanced iFIX course is designed to pick up where the iFIX Fundamentals course ends. The course is intended to provide the student a base level of proficiency using some of the product’s more advanced features. The student will become familiar with some of the tools and concepts available for optimizing ,troubleshooting ,driver configuration, and security. (more info)
Participants
This course is principally designed for process, automation, or instrumentation engineers and system integrators who will be developing, configuring, and using applications created with iFIX.
Prerequisites
Completion of iFIX Fundamentals course is required. Familiarity with relational databases and VBA would be helpful, but not required. Participants should have a working knowledge of Windows XP operating systems.
Upon completion of this Course, the student will be able to: |
- Understand detailed architecture communication between iFIX SCADA Servers and iFIX iClient nodes.
- Configure I/O Drivers to communicate with iFIX.
- Create basic scripts using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
- Configure iFIX to communicate with OPC Servers and configure OPC Clients to communicate with iFIX.
- Apply optimization techniques for I/O Drivers, Process Database, and graphics.
- Create Tag Groups, Key Marcos, ActiveX objects, and Global objects to enhance graphic screens.
- Configure iFIX to commutate with Relational Databases, including setting up ODBC, iFIX Database, iFIX alarms, and iFIX graphics using VisiconX.
- Design and build a system wide security strategy including Electronic Signatures.
- Create reports to display iFIX data using Access, Excel, and Crystal Reports.
- Understand and implement a SCADA Failover strategy.
- Understand how Terminal Services can be used with iFIX.
